Description
CALCULS RAYNAUX is a free javascript
It allows to perform calculations (and more!) in the cells of tables:
- in preselected cells
- or in all the colums of the table
- or in all the lines of the table

I am looking for a version where no values are inserted until it is exported with in5 as html5. That way the user could insert the values on the web page generated by in5 where the calculations would occur.
Also, did I miss something because the “$” sign only appear on the total and not on any of the previous values.
Great work!!!
Labdal –
Thank you David for this encouragement.
For calculations after export, I don’t really know, but I might turn to javascript!?
As for the symbol of the quote which only appears in the result, I invite you to take a look at Calculations Raynaux 4 😉
The tutorial is accessible here: https://labdal.net/tutoriels/CALCULS_RAYNAUX_v4.pdf

As it is Calculs Raynaux-v3 is a really great javascript plug-in for InDesign. It sure beats the alternative of trying to build a well designed invoice (or page that requires simple arithmetic functions) in a spreadsheet program like Excel or OpenOffice Calc. Especially a page design that doesn’t look like it was built in a spreadsheet application!
My question is, is there a version of of Calculs Raynaux that would allow the InDesign document to retain the settings for the calculations that have been established in the table? This would allow the table to function more like a spreadsheet thereby eliminating the need to reapply the javascripts in order to calculate the new amount each time you do an invoice for example. I don’t know if this is a possibility with javascripts in InDesign or not but it would be a really nice feature because it would be a real time saver!
If there is such a version that does retain the equations/formulas, could you please provide a link to the download and to any tutorial(s). If there isn’t such a version please let me know that as well. I still plan to continue to use Calculs Raynaux as it is even if there is no such version. It’s a great little piece of software.
Many Thanks
Labdal –
Thanks Jeff for the great review.
The answer to your question is simple: YES !!
Calculs Raynaux v4 (https://labdal.net/en/hello-and-welcome-on-labdal-net/#product-290) memorizes the last operation made in each table of an Indesign file (even after closing the file)! So you can change a value, launch Calculs Raynaux v4 and just click on the “Recalculate” button!
Here is the link to the tutorial: https://labdal.net/tutoriels/CALCULS_RAYNAUX_v4.pdf.
Version 4.14 will be released very soon, but all updates are free.
On the other hand, I am currently working on a version specially dedicated to quotes and invoices …

It’s pretty intuitive, I can’t work with excel/google sheets to save my life, and that I can now make cute invoice design with along with automated calculations is nice

I’m going the dangerous way of writing offers in Indesign. This script helps me tremendously towards error-free calculations.
Boris Maximov –
…for your time and work.
1) It multiplies 350 * 0 = 350, if chosen “ignore 0”.
2) It’d be nice if I could choose not only to work with the chosen cell or all lines/rows, but also with the chosen lines/cells
3) Nice, if I could choose to ignore non-numbers
Ansonsten vielen Dank soweit!
admin –
Thank you Boris.
1) Version 3.06 which I have just put online fixes this bug.
2) It was planned, version 4 will bring this improvement.
3) I don’t really understand… non-numbers are already ignored.
Rammy –
Thank you so much for Calculs Raynaux. The script has helped me a lot and it is a necessity for anyone making invoices in InDesign… since Adobe still can’t be arsed to add basic math functionality to InDesign tables.
Again, thank you so much for this!
jack nobody –
Install was easy, but how do I get the window/panel to appear so i can do choose my settings.
admin –
Please read the tutorial provided with the script. You’ll find the answer in paragraph 3 “How it works” :
“You can then launch the script … from the Indesign Panel : Window/Utilities/Scripts…”
Hope you’ll appreciate !
Claire –
So useful and easy to set up! Thank you so much! It’s perfect for making sure my invoices are accurate on indesign, without me having to design something grim in excel haha!
Olaf Grobben –
With admiration I’ve been testing the script Calculs Raynaux. Together with your German partner you guys have managed to make a great contribution to InDesign, which actually should have been a default feature in any application sporting tables.
The multitude of settings make for a whole range of possibilities.
Jonas –
I would love to thank you for the good work
David –
I appreciate that. Your script worked like a charm. Just as advertised.
